Our Kate survives the Pretty Muddy challenge

It's not the way most people would choose to spend their weekend. But Kate Mills, our fabulous Sales and Operations Supervisor, is not just any person!

In searing heat of over 30C, Kate and her mum, Diane, recently completed the 5K Pretty Muddy obstacle course in aid of Cancer Research UK. The course involves all kinds of gruelling activities, such as scrambling over an A-frame, crawling through a mud-pit, sliding under nets, and generally keeping going however grubby or exhausted you feel.

Several of us travelled down to Portsmouth to support Kate and Diane, cheering them on throughout, and greeting them at the finish line with well-deserved bottles of water. They both successfully crossed the finish line together in 1 hour and 3 minutes.

This is the ninth year that Kate has taken part in the event, and she has now raised over £1,100 for the charity.

Kate said: "It was certainly one of the tougher years to undertake the challenge. The heat was extremely intense at times but luckily the local firefighters were on hand to provide welcome relief by hosing us down with water and keeping us cool as we ran the course. I'm so proud to have completed the race once again and I am already preparing for my next challenge, which I hope will be Race for Life in 2019. I'm delighted to add another £300 to my fundraising total and would like to thank everyone who supported us, and came out on the day to cheer us on."Congratulations, Kate, on another amazing achievement.
