Earlier in the year we blogged about the Allsaved Guardians Award. We set up this award scheme to recognise the unsung heroes who go above and beyond to help keep their work colleagues safe by acting as fire marshals for their buildings.
We're delighted to announce that our first winner is Matthew Effemey, Operations Manager at The Capitol Theatre in Horsham, West Sussex.
Matthew was nominated for the award by his colleague Emma Locke, who works as Front of House Manager at the busy arts centre. Emma said: "Matthew is our go-to guy for everything. We're a big team here and he ensures we do all we can to protect customers and staff in a safe and accessible environment. He's clear on our procedures and puts us at ease, so we know what systems we should be following."
Matthew had no idea he'd been nominated, so when our Managing Director, Tom Simmonds, arrived at The Capitol to present the trophy and £400 cash prize, it was a complete surprise.
We captured the moment on video – click on the video below to watch Matthew's reaction. Suffice to say he was delighted with the award, and pronounced it to be 'awesome'!
Every month from now until the end of the year, we're handing out a trophy and £400 to Allsaved Guardians in Sussex, Surrey and beyond. If there's someone in your workplace you'd like to nominate, simply tell us what makes them the company's guardian angel and email email@example.com. Alternatively, you can write to Allsaved Guardians, c/o PMW Communications, Stane Court, Stane Street, Billingshurst, West Sussex RH14 9HP.
Does your company need fire safety awareness training?
By law, all employees must be trained in the actions they should take in the event of a fire. Sadly, not all companies and workplaces are fully compliant with up-to-date regulations. According to the latest official figures, there were almost 16,000 fires in non-residential premises in a 12-month period, with 17 fatalities and 892 non-fatal casualties.
If you feel your business is at risk – or simply need reassurance that you're doing everything right – don't hesitate to get in touch. We are experts in fire risk assessment and fire safety training, and we work tirelessly to protect buildings and the people inside. Our competitive rates and friendly, efficient approach have helped us to gain an outstanding reputation as a leading UK fire safety company. We look forward to hearing from you!
